Essential Nutrients to Aid Fracture Repair

Fri, 08/07/2015 - 21:33 -- Aaron
While a cast plays an essential role in the healing of broken bones, the importance of a well-balanced diet rich in those nutrients known to aid the repair of fractures should not be forgotten. This may not be an issue for many of the people who you provide casting for, but in seniors nutritional deficiencies are more frequent that you may realize. Particularly in frail older adults who report a history of weight loss or poor appetite they may be deficient in a number of key nutrients vital for bone healing.

ORTHOPAEDIC URGENT CARE - NOW OPEN!! For New Orthopaedic Injuries, no appointment necessary, walk-in daily 8 am-4 pm, Mt. Vernon location.

Dear Patients:

The safety and well-being of our patients and community members is our highest priority. Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois [OCSI] continues to actively monitor and prepare for the potential spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in our communities.

With the developments that have occurred over the last few months in regard to COVID-19, we have re-evaluated our protocols for the safety of our patients.

Symptoms of COVID-19 are similar to influenza, generally consisting of fever, cough, and body aches.

If you have symptoms of a virus or respiratory illness, or anyone in your household has symptoms of COVID-19 or is under investigation by the health department, you should not come to your appointment until you are free of fever and any other symptoms for at least 24 hours, without the use of fever-reducing medicines (e.g. Tylenol).

If a patient has tested positive or been in close contact with anyone with COVID-19 or are suspected of having COVID-19, they should not enter the facility.

Phase 5 effective - June 11, 2021

The check in process is normalizing somewhat.  Masks and antibacterial hand sanitizer prior to entering the building will be required.

There are limited circumstances and settings where all individuals, including those who are fully vaccinated, must wear a mask in accordance with CDC guidance; (1) on public transportation, (2) in congregate facilities, (3) in health care settings, and where required by federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, and regulations, including local business and workplace guidance.

Thank you for choosing Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois. We are honored to be your trusted healthcare provider.

For more information about COVID-19, please visit CDC website, www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html.
